Step 7 of 11

Chinese family

I have checked a few times, but the red envelopes hanging in our plants right behind my mother are, unfortunately, empty. Normally, there should be money in there. Growing up in a Chinese family, we maintained the custom of giving money to relatives in these red envelopes. However, in recent years, the traditional red envelope has also become a decoration in our home. Not just these plants, but also our Christmas tree is beautifully decorated with red envelopes every year. Though these are empty as well (I also checked that!), the red envelopes themselves embody a rich background story. Click for a glimpse into Chinese culture!
