Step 5 of 6

Happily ever after

Giovanna, who then lives in grief and bitterness with neither husband nor son, is pressured by her brothers to remarry. All this time she still has Federigo in the back of her mind who has been so generous to her. She then decides that if she were to remarry one day, it would be with Federigo degli Alberighi, and no one else. Giovanna would rather marry a man who can be happy without having anything, than a man who always needs money to have a happy life. Therefore, this story has a happy ending, in which Federigo marries his beloved Monna Giovanna and becomes very prosperous, because this time he has learned from the past and spends his money and possessions more carefully.
