Stela of Ipu

This is the limestone stela of Ipu, a ‘royal cupbearer’ who lived around the time of Tutankhamun, ca. 1336-1327 BC. The stela, which measures 128 by 86 by 15 cm, is shaped to represent a door and is decorated with a combination of high and low relief. Originally the stela was painted in multiple colors, of which almost nothing remains.
